Dr. Dana Albert-Proos is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Expressive Arts Therapist with more than 15 years of experience working with children, adults and families. Her experience includes working with individuals and groups in various settings including schools, community-based organizations, mental health facilities, and outpatient treatment centers.
Dr. Albert-Proos earned her B.A. at The Hebrew University in Israel, and her M.A. and Ph.D at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She has been teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the field of Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy in various universities and programs designed to train new professionals. Through extensive research, she examined the concepts of home and belonging in the immigration process, and applied Expressive Arts as a way to bridge between places and emotional aspects of the experience.
Dr. Albert-Proos is a strong believer in the ability of creativity and the arts to connect and support individuals, families, and groups through different life events and needs. She offers a warm, person-centered approach that includes psychotherapy, as well as the use of the arts, which allows her to meet individuals where they are. She specializes in individual therapy addressing various developmental, social and emotional needs as well as life transitions.
