Dr. Brooke Hammel is a postdoctoral fellow that has over ten years of experience working in a variety of clinical settings including college counseling, school counseling, veteran’s administration, acute inpatient settings, partial hospitalization programs and outpatient integrative medical settings. She has facilitated a variety of therapy groups, and has worked with couples, families and individuals. 

Brooke grew up in Cambridge, MA and earned her B.S in Clinical Psychology and Philosophy at Boston University, earned her M.A. and Psy.D in Clinical Psychology at William James College. 

Brooke utilizes an integrated approach that derives from mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, integrated behavioral couples therapy and psychodynamic principles. She understands and values the strength in vulnerability, and works to ensure that clients feel safe, supported and seen in their work together. Brooke brings her compassion, warmth and humor to her clinical approach with clients. She strives to empower individuals by providing the necessary tools to progress through life’s challenges. 

Brooke’s clinical interests include supporting individuals through significant life transitions, identity development, challenging family dynamics, couples counseling, bicultural stress, perinatal and postpartum health, workplace stress, depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety. Brooke understands that each individual is unique and works collaboratively with clients to identify their clinical needs and appropriate pace to ensure that a trusting therapeutic working relationship can evolve into meaningful change in a client’s life.

In her free time, Brooke is a history buff that enjoys traveling, finding and cooking creative recipes for her very picky eaters at home, learning about new cultures and binge-watching the latest Real Housewives of anywhere.
